Planning Your Study
As a student of NCNZ you will be a self-directed learner of distance education. Distance education is very much a partnership between the education provider and the student. Both parties must be active participants in this partnership. For you this brings a responsibility for self-directed learning using the educational materials supplied by the College. In turn, NCNZ will support you in achieving your learning goals.
As an adult learner it is up to you to plan your study to ensure you can comfortably complete each module of your course. The responsibility to learn and ownership of the learning lies with you. Distance education requires motivation and self discipline. You will need to set yourself goals and stick to them.
Some key things to consider before enrolling in a course are:
- What daily and weekly responsibilities do you have?
- Do you have children at home and if so who will you care for them when you study?
- Do you have the hours available each week to undertake the work required?
- When will you study each day/week?
- Where will you study?
- What resources do you need to complete your studies?
It is important to take the time to consider these points and any other related considerations you need to take into account before enrolling. This ensures you have planned for all that you need to be successful in your studies.
The following are some of the key attributes required by students to successfully complete distance education courses with NCNZ. The student:
